The results of the competition for the SOFTacademy project replication area have been announced and the neighbourhood of Mustamäe tee 167, 169, 171 and 171a has been selected as the winner.

Neighbourhoods from Mustamäe teeand Nõmme tee were nominated. The assessment took into account the willingness of the housing associations to renovate, the number of people involved, the size of the area and the motivation to design the courtyard with the city and neighbours.

Based on the evaluation criteria set out in the terms of the competition, the Mustamäe tee neighbourhood scored 25 points and the Nõmme tee neighbourhood 16 points.

Reasons for the selection of the Mustamäe tee neighbourhood:

• Higher number of beneficiaries due to the higher number of apartment owners in the neighbourhood.
• Typical Mustamäe residential area, which is a good representation of the residential architecture of the area.
• Existence of houses at different stages of the renovation process, which allows better testing of inclusion models.
• A larger and better defined courtyard area offering multiple opportunities for the implementation of a soft city approach.

In the Mustamäe tee neighbourhood, the co-design of the courtyard area will start in 2025 and implementation is planned for 2026. The aim of the project is to make the living environment more attractive and functional by implementing innovative urban design solutions.
